COLEMAN—The No. 1 seeded Coleman boys basketball team punched their ticket to the WIAA Division 4 Sectionals by blowing out No. 5 Crandon 73-26 on Friday before downing Marinette and Oconto Conference rival Crivitz 62-49 in Saturday’s WIAA Division 4 Regional final.

In Friday’s semifinal contest the Cougars (19-3) dominated the first half, taking a 37-8 lead over the Cardinals (5-21) at halftime before putting the game away by outscoring Crandon by a 36-16 margin.

Noah Nosgovitz led Coleman with 17 points while Cayden Bintz added 14 and Simon Maedke chipped in 12.

Coleman’s first-half domination continued against Crivitz (15-11) as the Cougars took a 38-21 lead at halftime. The Wolverines, who defeated No. 3 Wabeno-Laona 73-57 on Friday, managed to outscore the Cougars 28-24 in the second half but were unable to dig themselves out of their first-half hole.

Bintz was Coleman’s top scorer on Saturday with 17 with Maedke backing him up with 13 while Nosgovitz and Tieg Sadowski each finished with 11. Eian Baumann was Crivitz’s leading scorer with 16 points with Seth Sellen and Tegan Werner finishing with nine.

Coleman travels to Sheboygan Area Lutheran on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
