CRIVITZ—Alec Grandaw pitched a complete game while Chase Gosse drove in a pair of runs to power the Crivitz boys baseball team past Peshtigo 7-4 on Tuesday.

The victory is the Wolverines’ 17th, setting a new school-record for victories in a season.

Grandaw allowed six hits and struck out seven while giving up three earned runs across six innings. He outdueled Cody Salzman, his Bulldog counterpart, who allowed four runs (two earned) and four hits in three innings.

The game was tied 1-1 after three innings until Crivitz (9-3 Marinette and Oconto Conference, 17-6 overall) plated five runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead. Peshtigo (5-3 Packerland Conference, 10-10 overall) tacked on one run in the sixth and two more in the seventh, but were unable to overcome its five-run deficit.

Gosse went two-for-four and scored two runs with Austin Burnside, Jonah Behrendt and Jacob Behrendt each recording an RBI.

Zack Wallin paced Peshtigo’s offense with a two-for-three slash line along with two RBIs, while Trevor Walters had an RBI.

The Bulldogs hosted Crandon in the opening round of the WIAA Division 3 Regionals, with results unavailable at press time.

Crivitz has earned the No. 2 seed and will play the winner of Thursday’s game between No. 3 Oconto and No. 6 Gillett-Suring on Tuesday. First-pitch will be at 4:30 p.m.
