MENOMINEE — The M&M Hornets youth football program has decided to cancel the 2020 football season.
“The continued health and safety of our young athletes is the most important aspect of our program. Under the circumstances, we are unable to insure the athletes and their families would not be affected by COVID-19,” Hornet’s board member Mark Klatt said.
The Hornets have played against the highest level of competition throughout Northeast Wisconsin and Upper Michigan for the past 35 years. For the last eight, the Hornets have been a member of the Great Lakes Independent Football Conference.
“Some of the conference teams have either canceled their season or indicated they could not travel. We investigated every avenue to have a safe and successful season, but the threshold of safety could not be met,” said Klatt.
In the coming weeks, the Hornets will make additional announcements regarding the annual Hornets raffle.
