MARINETTE — The Marinette boys soccer teamed honored its seven seniors on Thursday but couldn't gift them a victory in their final home game, with the Marines suffering a 3-2 loss at the hands of Luxemburg-Casco in North Eastern Conference action.

The Spartans took the lead in the first half by scoring two goals in less than a minute but Marinette responded with a goal by Keegan Polomis off an assist by Noah Cegelski to cut the deficit to 2-1 with 5:30 left to play until halftime. Neither team's defense yielded a score throughout the waning minutes of the half, and the Marines found themselves down by one at halftime.

Marinette equalized the score 2-2 at the 62nd minute mark off a penalty kick by Cegelski after Polomis was tackled on an attempted goal. The Spartans tacked on another goal at the 70th minute by Matthew Conway to make it a 3-2 score that held until the final whistle despite Marinette attacking the net with intensity throughout much of the game's final 15 minutes.

Cegelski and Polomis each scored a goal while Cegelski added an assist to lead the Marines.
