MARINETTE — The Marinette girls volleyball team found itself on the wrong end of a 3-0 sweep at the hands of Freedom in non-conference play on Thursday.

The Marines, still searching for their first victory on the season, had difficulties on their serve and receive to gift the Irish free points all match long.

Marinette dropped the first set 13-25 before serve-receive errors in the second dug the Marines into an early hole that they couldn't crawl out of, losing 9-25. Marinette regrouped before the third set and held an early 2-1 lead but could not sustain the momentum, falling 13-25 to give the Irish the 3-0 sweep.

The Marines are back on the court Saturday hosting Little Chute. The match begins at Noon.

A full write up on Thursday's game will follow in Monday's edition of the EagleHerald.
