Marines shutout by Vikings

MARINETTE—In local soccer action, the Marine girls hosted the Denmark Vikings in Marinette Thursday. Denmark won the defensive battle 2-0.

The Marines were forced to play from behind early after conceding two early goals to the Vikings in this contest.

According to Marinette coach Chris Mahlik, despite being down 2-0 early and his team’s lack of healthy players, “The defense held tough the rest of the way playing with key injuries and no subs.”

One player of coach Mahlik mentioned specifically having a good game Casey Jensen. Mahlik praised her adding she “had a nice game in the goal with some awesome saves”

While the Marinette girls prepare for their next game, they hope to heal up and have all their players healthy when they travel to play Luxemburg-Casco Tuesday. The game starts at 6:30pm.
