Oconto wins showdown of unbeatens

OCONTO—The Coleman boys basketball team is undefeated no longer after suffering a 64-58 setback against fellow unbeaten Oconto in non-conference competition on Monday.

The Cougars (3-0 Marinette and Oconto Conference, 5-1 overall) held a 35-32 lead at halftime but were outscored 32-23 in the second half behind Kadin Baxter, who led the Blue Devils (4-0 Packerland Conference, 8-0 overall) with 18 points.

Eli Zablocki also scored 18 points to pace the Cougars in scoring while Logan Kurth chipped in 13 and Noah Nosgovitz tacked on 10.

Carter Koch finished with 15 points for Oconto with Luke Krueger adding 12.

Coleman is off until Jan. 3 when it hosts Niagara (2-1 M&O Conference, 3-3 overall) at 7:15 p.m.

Oconto takes on Shiocton in a non-conference matchup today at the Kress Center at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay at 10:30 a.m.
