Short-handed Hornets win

APPLETON—Despite being down four players, the Menominee Hornets 8th grade football team traveled with 12 players and managed to edge Appleton Xavier 38-26 on Saturday.

The Hornets’ offensive line of Cole Cooper, Brennan Swanson, Alex Parrett, Matthew Webb and Landen Peterson controlled the line of scrimmage all game and paved the way for Blake Paasch, who tallied 132 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Clayton Miller chipped in two touchdowns, hauling in a 53-yard reception for a score before finding the endzone again on a 41-yard run.

Maverick Lamoureux-Geniesse had a 78-yard touchdown sprint while Tanner Theuerkauf had two touchdowns (one rushing, one passing).

On defense, Cooper registered two sacks and forced a fumble that was recovered by Parrett for a touchdown.
