Wausaukee stung by Hornets

ELCHO, Wis.—The Wausaukee boys basketball team was unable to crawl out of a big first-half hole against Elcho as the Rangers dropped Tuesday’s WIAA Division 5 Regional playoff opener 81-46.

The No. 5 seeded Rangers (7-11) found themselves down 44-20 at halftime as the No. 4 seeded Hornets (10-10) took it to the paint against Wausaukee with Seth Schuett dropping 21 of his team-leading 24 points in the first half. It was Elcho in the second half as the Rangers were outscored by a 37-26 margin.

Brenden Versaskas led Wausaukee with 14 points while Peyton Betts and Corey Boesen each finished with 11.
